Once in a blue moon, there are boxing match-ups which will guarantee the fans an exciting  and electrifying match from the first bell of the first round until the end of the last round, or until one of the fighters is knocked out cold. The match between Vic Darchinyan and Joseph Agbeko is one of those kinds of fights.

Armenia-born Australian Darchinyan (32-1-1, 26 KOs) is moving up in weight from 115 to 118  to challenge IBF  bantamweight champion “King Kong” Agbeko (26-1-0, 22 KOs).  It’s going to an explosive fight, with the two fighters possessing a come-foward, devil-may-care attitude.

Darchinyan, dubbed the Raging Bull, is the heavy favorite in this match. He has fought a wide array of boxers with varying styles, and he has always come out on top. He recently fought -and overwhelmed - an aggressive fighter in the person of Mexican Jorge Arce. Darchinyan beat the well-rounded Arce to a pulp. Darchinyan’s aggressive style may mislead casual fans into thinking that the Raging Bull is all brawl. But that is not the case, he has sound technical skills, which allows him to effectively punch his opponents cleanly. It is just that his busy handwork overshadows his technical skills - and that’s what makes him a very lethal opponent for Agbeko.

Agbeko, from Ghana, is a solid fighter.  His style is to crowd his opponent with a flurry of punches. Needless to say, He is also dangerous opponent, and can easily knock his opponent down with one of his power punches. His defense, however, may prove to be his downfall.

While Agbeko has not been knocked  out (his only loss was by way of a majority decision against Wladimir Sirodenko), it cannot be said for certain that he has a durable chin that can withstand Darchinyan’s power. His opponents in the past were not as stellar as Darchinyan’s, so Agbeko has not been truly tested in this regard. He has a good upper body movement, and he always keeps his hands up for defense. But he has an awkward footwork, which makes for poor recovery on defense. This can be his downfall. He must prevent getting off-balanced, which Darchinyan will surely capitalize on.

Vic Darchinyan has proven time and again that he is a force to be reckoned with. His only loss against Nonito Donaire showed that he is not invulnerable. But Agbeko does not have the speed, guile and timing that Donaire showed against Darchinyan. And ever since that loss, Darchinyan has even become a better boxer. He has more control now, but he has not deviated from his aggressive style that he is known for. Darchinyan will most likely win this fight, possibly with a late knockout.
