Horse racing is an exhilarating sport. There are different types of betting on horse racing, namely, straight, place, show, combination, pick 3, pick 6, Quiniela, Perfecta, Trifecta, Superfecta, Daily double and a lot of others.

In the straight betting method you bet on a horse of your liking. If it wins the race you win your bet. In the place bet, you bet on a position for your chosen horse. If it is able to secure the first or second position you will win the bet. If you put a show bet on your horse, you will win it if it acquires not only one of the first and second positions, but also the third position as well. By making a combination bet you can choose between a combination of two to four horses to win the race according to a given order.

In the Pick 3 method you need to bet on a horse(s) that is likely to win three consecutive races. If it does you win the bet, otherwise you lose. The pick 6 method is tougher where you need to bet upon a horse that is likely to win 6 consecutive races. You have to be very careful in your choice because the horse that you choose should be able to deliver according to your expectations. This method of betting is preferred by experts as the stakes are quite high.

The Quiniela, also commonly known as the reverse forecast method, is one in which you need to bet on a couple of horses for the first and second position. Either of the horses can finish first or second. For example, if you bet on two horses, Mini and Pony, for the first and second positions in a race, you win the bet if either of them occupies the first place. It is not necessary for Mini to finish first and Pony to finish second.

The Perfecta method, also known as Exacta (Straight Forecast) is a more risky variation of the Quiniela because you need to specify the positions that the horses chosen by you will occupy, and in order to win the horses need to finish in the same positions as mentioned by you. For example, you can bet on Pony finishing first and Mini finishing second. At the end of the race Pony has to be in the first position and Mini has to be in the second position for you to win the bet. If Mini finishes first and Pony second you will not be winning the bet.
