U.S. Open Trophy 2008

Last year’s epic win of Tiger Woods at the 2008 U.S. Open Championship was a painful experience. I mean literally because he was playing with a knee injury. And he won inspite of that weak knee. This demonstrates his ability to bring himself to another level which most players can only imagine. He has won this tournament in 2000, 2002, and 2008 which is quite remarkable considering he was playing only with one leg. The question is, can Tiger Woods defend his title again at this year’s U.S Open to be held at Bethpage State Park in Farmington, N.Y. in June using both legs? He is feeling healthy. His knee is better and we may safely assume he is quite ready. The result of his performance during the last U.S. Masters was not the Tiger Woods we expected to see with a scoreboard resulting in a dissapointing Round 1 - 70, Round 2 - 72, Round 3 - 70, Round 4 - 68 giving a total score of 280, does not look anything like Tiger Woods score card. A club player could do that! What went wrong? Nothing. Other’s just played better. Simple as that. Comparing his result to the winner Angel Cabrera with an impressive Round 1 - 68, Round 2 - 68, Round 3 - 69, Round 4 - 71 giving him a total of 276, makes us wonder what went wrong to Mr. Tiger Woods. Can’t be the knee again. And not to mention Angel Cabrera won the U.S. Open in 2007. Aha! Who is this guy? Then Tiger Woods with knee injury and all stole it from him in 2008. Seems like a teeter-totter season for Tiger Woods. And now its back on the teeter-totter again for this years U.S. Open, when last year against Rocco Mediate pushed Tiger Woods to his physical limits. No mercy this Mr. Mediate to the injured Mr. Woods who was challenged to a tie at the 18th hole 71 / 71 for both players thus resulting in a sudden death playoff on hole number 7 when he had to justify his name Tiger by winning by one stroke Woods - 4 and Mediate - 5.

That was the past. Now it is time for the present. We have Tiger Woods up on his knees. Watch out Mr. Mediate & and Mr. Cabrera. Im still the guy to beat at the U.S. Open, but we all now that. He is always the guy to beat which is putting a lot of presssure on Tiger Woods which he probably is so used to by now but no pressure on his knees this time which was the biggest health news flying around in the world of the PGA. We expect a more realastic scorecard this time form Tiger Woods, not that rediculous sunday score card of some weekender at the country club. Hey, its golf anyway. Its suppose to be this way. Teeter -totter here and there, a littile bit of sunday golf then a few drinks at the bar, just another relaxing day at the country club. But i thought this is going to be the U.S. Open not some afternoon golf with the guys. Let’s ask Tiger what he think’s. Until then, see you at the fairway Mr. Woods.
